The Planning & Community Development Department is responsible for urban planning, zoning, design review, floodplain, building, permitting, licensing, code enforcement, downtown parking and CDBG/HOME programs within the City of Great Falls, Montana (population ±60,000). The Deputy Director will lead a planning team responsible for current planning, long-range planning, transportation planning and historic preservation and supervise other department team members. The Deputy Director assists the Director of Planning & Community Development with project management and administration and coordinates with the Building Official who is responsible for permitting, building inspections and code enforcement. Prefer a Masters Degree in Urban and Regional Planning and minimum five years progressive planning experience with at least three years supervisory experience. AICP certification preferred. Must possess/obtain a valid MT driver’s license and have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, senior management, elected officials and the public. Grade 55, Salary: Low 60s, DOQ, excellent benefits.
