7-13-20 Update: COVID-19

It is with great sadness that the APA Colorado Board has decided to cancel the in-person fall 2020 Colorado Planning Conference in Vail.

Our first and foremost priority is the health and safety of our members and conference attendees. After much discussion, input from our members and reviewing the conference attendance survey, it was determined that moving forward with an in-person event was not in the best interest of the Chapter. A majority of our members noted they would not be able to attend the conference due to financial constraints, travel restrictions by employers or concerns of your own personal health and safety.

With that, the Chapter Board will be meeting over the next month to discuss a virtual event(s), including format, duration, timing, partnerships, and sessions. Like us, many of you are having virtual meeting fatigue, so we will keep this in mind with our brainstorming. However, we do feel it’s important to keep the lines of communication open, to network with planners across the state, and to continue to learn from one another.

6-15-20 Update: COVID-19
Our highest priority is the health and safety of our Chapter members and community. We are continually monitoring guidelines from the WHO and CDC leading up to the 2020 Colorado Planning Conferece. At this time, the event is still planned for the Vail Marriott in Vail, CO, September 30 - October 2, 2020. We are reviewing the results of the conference attendance survey and will be communicating results and the Board's decision to hold or cancel the in-person conference by the end of June.

5-11-20 COVID-19: At this time we are still planning an in-person event; however, we anticipate there will be lingereing affects from the COVID-19 pandemic which may require limitations on space, attendance and offerings. As such, we are researching virutal conference options which may be held in conjuctions with, in place of or separate from the in-person event. Registration will not open in early June; we anticipate it opening in late June or early July and pricing may be modified from those posted.

The Chapter will be conducting a survey of our members to determine overall abielity to attend an  in-person evnet based on personal safety considerations, budget impacts to training and travel, and other considerations. Please keep an eye out for this survey in late May.
