Healthy Communities Committee

Welcome to the Healthy Communities Committee! Health is impacted by where we live, work, learn and play. We seek to influence policy areas that will contribute to the overall health of Colorado and we act as a clearinghouse for best practices in healthy community initiatives. Other strategies we evoke to help create healthy communities include:

  • Providing strategic resources for grant-seeking cities, towns and counties
  • Providing training and networking for planners and other professionals
  • Compiling research and resources about healthy communities that are pertinent to Colorado

If you’re interested in learning more, sharing your community’s experience or brainstorming ways to better integrate health and planning, we’d love to hear from you!

Current Projects

  • Model Land Use Code project - on going, read more under the "Projects" tab.
  • Health and Housing Position statement - projected to be finalized by fall 2021.

Colorado Code Project

The Healthy Communities Committee is currently working on the Colorado Code Project that will identify land use codes in Colorado that are promoting health and equity and using best practices in language and framing of healthy community concepts. The intent of the toolkit is to help encourage and assist other communities in adopting land use codes that promote healthy communities.

Healthy Communities Committee Meetings

Following the group's survey for 2021, the Committee Chairs decided to change it up a bit with the meeting schedule. Every six weeks the Committee will meet on either a Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday to accommodate more people's schedules. You can view the entire schedule and all the zoom info here.
