The City of Aspen has launched an innovative affordable housing credit program that provides a new means for meeting the mitigation requirement of new development, while encouraging the private sector to voluntarily develop affordable housing not required for mitigation purposes. The success of this program is evidenced by the quality of planned housing projects that have resulted from this program, and the increased interest in using credits as mitigation.
