As the American economy pivots into the post-‐recession growth cycle, the 2014 edition of P.U.M.A.’s Global Trends Report prepares downtown management organizations, business
leaders and local decision makers with an informed perspective on converging trends in demographics, lifestyles and global competition that will shape our cities for years to come.
P.U.M.A. (Progressive Urban Management Associates) first reported on the top global trends impacting American cities in 2006 to inform the Downtown Denver Area Plan and since then many cities have utilized the report to support a variety of downtown planning, marketing and economic development initiatives.

For the 2014 edition, P.U.M.A. teamed with the University of Colorado Denver College of Architecture and Planning to enlist 22 graduate students from the fall 2013 urban economic systems class, taught by P.U.M.A.’s Brad Segal and Anna Jones, to conduct research for the Trends Report. As part of the MURP program’s emphasis on applied, experiential learning, students analyzed more than 250 independent sources reflecting the latest data and the world’s most sophisticated thinkers and urban philosophers.

Please join us for a presentation on global trends by P.U.M.A.’s President Brad Segal followed by a Q&A with students from the Urban Economic Systems class:

2014 Global Trends:

  1. Changing American Demographics
  2. Education, Talent & Jobs
